Kuka olet ja mistä tulet?

Olen Taavi Ahonen, 23, Hämeenlinnasta. Opiskelen sosionomi(AMK) - Kirkon nuorisotyönohjaajaksi Järvenpäässä kolmatta vuotta. Ennen koulua asuin Pirkkalassa.

Mitä muuta kuin koulua ja opkua?

Töitä vanhassa ammatissa, myyjänä Siwan kassalla sekä tulevan koulutuksen mukaisia töitä lastensuojelulaitoksessa, molempia säännöllisen epäsäännöllisesti. Kotoa löytyy avovaimo sekä kaksi marsua ja luppakorvakani. Kelien salliessa ja ajopelin löytyessä alle vietän aikaa myös kaksipyöräisen päällä asfalttia niellen.

Miksi lähdit mukaan?

Se, miksi alun perin lähdin mukaan opiskelijakuntatoimintaan, on jo tainnut unohtua. Takana on kaksi kautta rahastonhoitajana entisessä paikallisyhdistyksessä ja yksi vuosi edustajistojäsenenä. Toiminta on kuitenkin ollut mielenkiintoista ja mukaansa tempaavaa, kuin itseään ruokkiva kehä. Mitä enemmän tekee, sitä mielenkiintoisemmaksi kaikki muuttuu. Hallitukseen lähteminen oli lopulta oivallinen jatko ja ikään kuin huipennus aikaisemmalle toiminnalle. Toki useamman vuoden kaupassa työskentely on antanut ymmärrystä raha-asioista, jotka ovat näin ollen olleet lähellä sydäntä myös opku-toiminnassa. Puoluepoliittisesti en ole juuri ollut aktiivinen, mutta politiikasta olen ollut kiinnostunut jo vuosia. Opiskelijakuntatoiminta on yhteisten asioiden hoitoa, eli politiikkaan sen alkuperäisimmässä muodossa.

Mitä tavoitteita kaudelle? 

Varapuheenjohtajan vakituisten tehtävien lisäksi vastuullani on vuoden vaihteessa virallisesti toimintansa aloittaneiden paikallisjaostojen koordinointi. Näiden organisaation uusien osien toiminnan varmistaminen ja kehittäminen on luonnollisesti kauden tärkeimpiä tavoitteita, sekä minulle itselleni, että koko opiskelijakunnalle. Muita koko opiskelijakuntaan koskevista tavoitteista minulle läheisiä ovat, toiminnan kehittäminen ammattimaisempaan suuntaan. Yksittäisistä tulevista tehtävistä mainittakoon johtosäännön ja muiden ohjesääntöjen sovittaminen käytännössä uuteen organisaatioon. Lisäksi jaostoille pyritään luomaan selkeä ohjevihkonen jaoston toiminnan pyörittämiseen. Myös opiskelijakunnan kaikkien tasojen(Hallitus, edustajisto ja jaostot) välistä kommunikaatiota tulee olennaisesti parantaa.

Terveisiä opiskelijoille? 

Olkaa aktiivisia, kyselkää ja kyseenalaistakaa. Miettikää olisitteko valmiita ottamaan joitain vastuutehtäviä itsellenne ensi vuonna tai vaikka jo tänä vuonna. Jaostot tarvitsevat aina ylimääräisiä käsiä. Lisäksi jaostot janoavat ideoita siitä mitä voitaisiin tehdä jatkossa teidän opiskelijoiden hyvinvoinniksi ja huvitukseksi. Olkaa rohkeasti yhteydessä, sekä meihin hallituksessa, edustajistossa, että jaostoissa.

Who are you and where do you come from?

I am Taavi Ahonen, 23, live in Hämeenlinna, study in Järvenpää. I study to become Sosionomi.

What else besides school and Student Union activity?

Working in Siwa and child protective services. Spending time in home with my girldfriend and pets(two guinea pigs and a rabbit). When the weather is right and I found two wheels under me you can find me on the road.

Why did you want to be an O’Diako active?

I have already forgotten why I first started all this but now I just find it enjoyable to work for common better. After Two years in Järvenpää board and a year in counsil it is almost natural to climb up the stairs of O’Diako to become a member of board. So Here I am. I have always being interested of finances so they have been my interest in O’Diako too.

What are your goals for this year?

My main goal is to make sure that our new organization works. Besides the work of the vice chairman I have the local branches under my supervision. Currently I am working with the new version guide rules of O’Diako. I am also making a info book to branches to work with. In the board we try to make our your even more professional.

What would you like to say to the students?

Be active, ask and make sure to be answered to. In O’Diako we always need more people so think if you are ready to do something for O’Diako maybe this or the next year. We in the board and council are always eager to here from the students so don’t hesitate to contact us. 

Together as One

I began my term in the Board at the start of this year, and it takes a lot of work and dedication to be in this position. Lots of commitment and thoughtfulness will be required to solve many issues hinged in the arena of education. We are here to be the voice of the students, and I may say that we are not here to further our own agendas.

Some of the issues that have been on our horizon recently are for one, the question about asking international students to pay tuition fees, and demanding that students graduate in unreasonable amounts of times. It goes without saying that we are completely against this school of thought. This is discrimination and it should be fought from the rooftops of all corners! Every student, teacher, parliamentarian, politician, and anyone else willing should join us all to fight this vendettas.

We as O'Diako stand for excellence and equality in the studying atmospheres for all students, regardless of nationality, and it is in our interests to accomplish this by all legal means possible. Every student in Diak has a voice in us, and all politicking minus progress equals a fail. We want to make changes that have never been made before, be influential in a way that has never before been seen, establish a legacy that will be the mark of O'Diako in Diak today and the years to come.

We urge each and every one of the Diak students we represent to join us in this fierce trail, bring forth their ideas, and fight for the betterment of Diak through O’Diako.
